La Crosse, WI — Residents across western Wisconsin and neighboring portions of Minnesota and Iowa can expect an extended stretch of unusually warm late October weather from Thursday, Oct. 22, through Saturday, Oct. 24, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the upper 70s and some communities approaching 80 degrees before a slight chance of rain develops Saturday night.
According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, warmer than normal temperatures will continue through Saturday, providing several days of comfortable fall weather across the region.
Thursday will bring partly sunny skies, with afternoon highs ranging from 71 to 79 degrees. Overnight temperatures are expected to fall between 45 and 53 degrees, offering a cooler start to Friday.
Friday will remain warm, with partly sunny skies and afternoon temperatures reaching between 73 and 78 degrees.
Overnight lows Friday night are forecast between 52 and 59 degrees, making for a relatively mild late October evening.
Saturday will continue the warm pattern, with highs ranging from 72 to 78 degrees under partly sunny skies.
However, forecasters indicate that a slight chance of showers could develop late Saturday night, primarily north of Interstate 94.
The National Weather Service places the probability of precipitation between 10% and 20% in those areas, meaning most locations are expected to remain dry.
Saturday night temperatures should range from 49 to 53 degrees.
The extended warm stretch should provide favorable conditions for outdoor activities, fall festivals, agricultural work and weekend travel across La Crosse, Eau Claire and surrounding western Wisconsin communities.
Similar conditions are expected across portions of southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa within the La Crosse forecast region.
Residents planning outdoor activities Saturday night, particularly north of I 94, should monitor updated forecasts for any changes in shower potential.
