La Crosse, WI – Mostly dry weather is expected across the region through much of the coming week, but colder temperatures could bring frost or freezing conditions to parts of Wisconsin early Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, rain chances Saturday and Saturday night are generally limited to areas along and north of Interstate 90, including portions of southeast Minnesota and west central and central Wisconsin. Chances range from 20% to 60%, with only limited rainfall expected.
Saturday highs are forecast from 63 to 67 degrees, followed by overnight lows from 46 to 52. Breezy south winds could gust from 25 to 30 mph across southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa during the day.
Sunday should turn dry and cooler, with highs from 62 to 66 degrees. The more notable change arrives Sunday night into Monday morning, when temperatures are forecast to fall into the 30s in parts of the region.
The NWS said the coldest conditions increase the risk of freezing temperatures in central Wisconsin and frost formation in west central Wisconsin. Forecast lows across the broader area range from 33 to 43 degrees Sunday night, meaning the frost and freeze potential will depend on location.
Dry weather is expected to dominate afterward. Monday highs should reach 61 to 65 degrees, followed by 65 to 70 Tuesday and 70 to 75 Wednesday.
Residents with sensitive vegetation in central and west central Wisconsin should monitor updated forecasts for Sunday night and Monday morning as the expected temperatures and frost potential become clearer.
