La Crosse, WI – A noticeable weekend weather change is approaching western Wisconsin, with temperatures expected to reach 74 degrees Saturday, October 24, before dropping to approximately 63 degrees Sunday. The 11 degree decline will mark a shift from several days of mild fall weather toward cooler conditions and increasing shower chances across La Crosse County and the surrounding Mississippi River Valley.
According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the lower to middle 70s will continue through Saturday. However, Sunday brings a 20% chance of showers before 1 p.m., followed by additional rain chances Sunday night and Monday as daytime temperatures fall into the upper 50s.
The changing forecast could affect outdoor plans across the La Crosse area, particularly for residents scheduling weekend recreation, fall activities or travel between western Wisconsin and southeastern Minnesota.

By Tuesday, partly sunny skies are expected, although temperatures will remain cooler, with highs near 54 degrees.
Looking farther ahead, NOAA's Climate Prediction Center temperature outlook for October 28 through November 3 favors above normal temperatures across Wisconsin.
The precipitation outlook for the same period places much of western Wisconsin near normal, suggesting no strong signal for unusually wet or dry conditions.
While the extended temperature outlook favors warmth relative to seasonal averages, it does not guarantee a return to the middle 70s.
For La Crosse residents, Saturday currently offers the warmest weekend conditions before cooler temperatures and rain chances return Sunday.
