La Crosse, WI – A chilly autumn weekend across western Wisconsin is giving way to a noticeable warming trend, with afternoon temperatures expected to climb into the upper 60s and lower 70s by the middle of next week.
According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, dry and warmer conditions will continue developing through Wednesday, October 21, bringing mostly sunny skies and little chance of precipitation across the region.
Chilly Weekend Before Temperatures Climb
Saturday, October 17, will feature afternoon highs between 56 and 59 degrees, followed by overnight lows ranging from 31 to 42 degrees.
Those temperatures could bring near freezing conditions to colder locations overnight, particularly where readings approach the lower end of the forecast range.
By Sunday, October 18, temperatures will begin recovering, with highs reaching 61 to 65 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Overnight lows will remain cool, ranging from 31 to 43 degrees.
Warmer Weather Builds Through Wednesday
The warming trend becomes more noticeable Monday, October 19, when afternoon highs are forecast between 63 and 67 degrees.
Tuesday brings another increase, with temperatures reaching 64 to 69 degrees and overnight lows moderating into the 40s.
By Wednesday, October 21, the National Weather Service expects highs between 68 and 72 degrees, making it the warmest day in the current five day outlook.
Wednesday night's temperatures are forecast to remain between 44 and 52 degrees.
Dry Conditions Favor Outdoor Activities
The extended stretch of mostly sunny, precipitation free weather should provide favorable conditions for outdoor recreation, travel and fall activities across the La Crosse region.
Residents in La Crosse County and surrounding communities can expect cool mornings followed by increasingly comfortable afternoons.
While the warming trend is expected to continue through midweek, residents should still prepare for chilly overnight temperatures, especially early in the forecast period.
