Kenosha, WI – A double homicide investigation in southeastern Wisconsin has led to the arrest of a 33 year old man in Chicago after two Kenosha residents were found fatally shot inside a home Monday afternoon.
According to the Kenosha Police Department , officers responded to a residence in the 5500 block of Washington Road at approximately 2:51 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, after a third party requested a welfare check.
Upon entering the residence, officers discovered two deceased individuals, identified as 57 year old Rodney Brushwood and 59 year old Rena O'Neal. Both were Kenosha residents.
Investigators determined that both victims had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
Suspect Located and Arrested in Chicago
During the investigation, detectives identified Michael A. O'Neal Fleming, 33, of Seattle, Washington, as a person of interest in the killings.
Kenosha police initially warned the public that Fleming was considered armed and dangerous, urging residents not to approach him.
However, authorities confirmed in an official statement issued Tuesday, Oct. 20, that Fleming had been located and arrested in Chicago following an extensive search involving Kenosha police and the United States Marshals Service.
The arrest ended the active search for Fleming, although the investigation into the deaths remains ongoing.
Extradition and Criminal Charges Expected
Kenosha detectives are working with the Kenosha County District Attorney's Office to begin extradition proceedings and pursue criminal charges in Wisconsin.
Authorities have not publicly established a motive for the killings or disclosed the relationship, if any, between Fleming and the victims.
Police thanked community members who provided tips and witness information, along with federal authorities who assisted in locating and apprehending Fleming.
The case remains under investigation. Additional information about potential charges and court proceedings is expected as the legal process moves forward.
