Kenosha County, WI – A football coach is no longer employed at Westosha Central High School after concerns involving Snapchat communication with a student prompted a school and law enforcement investigation this week.
According to the Kenosha County Sheriff ’s Office, a school resource officer at Westosha Central High School was notified by administrators at approximately 2:20 p.m. Monday about concerns regarding communication between a football coach and a student through Snapchat.
The deputy interviewed both the student and coach and reviewed information provided in connection with the complaint. The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau also assisted with the investigation.
Authorities said Wednesday that, based on information obtained so far, no criminal violation has been identified and no criminal charges have been filed .
School administrators are addressing the matter internally, according to the sheriff’s office. The football coach is no longer employed as a coach at Westosha Central High School.
The sheriff’s office clarified that the football coach was not a teacher, support staff member or substitute teacher at the school.
Officials also emphasized that the school’s personnel decision is separate from the sheriff’s assessment of whether a criminal offense occurred. Questions regarding the employment decision are being directed to the school district.
The sheriff’s office did not identify the student, citing privacy and student safety considerations. The agency also did not disclose the contents or nature of the Snapchat communication in Wednesday’s news release.
As of Wednesday afternoon, authorities had announced no criminal charges stemming from the investigation.
