Green Bay, WI – October 2026 is officially in the record books, with unusually warm temperatures and below normal rainfall across northeastern and north central Wisconsin. New figures released Monday show several communities experienced one of their warmest Octobers on record.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, temperatures across the region averaged 4 to 8 degrees above normal during October, while precipitation generally finished 1 to 2 inches below typical monthly totals.
Wausau recorded its fifth warmest October on record , with an average temperature of 54.1 degrees, approximately 7.8 degrees above normal. The city received just 2.06 inches of precipitation, roughly 1.01 inches below normal.

The unusually warm conditions were especially noticeable during the first half of the month.
Green Bay reached 84 degrees Oct. 10, while Rhinelander climbed to 83 degrees that same day. Wausau also reached 84 degrees Oct. 12.
Despite those warm afternoons, temperatures occasionally dropped below freezing. Rhinelander fell to 24 degrees Oct. 30, while Green Bay and Wausau recorded lows of 29 and 28 degrees, respectively, Oct. 17.
All three reporting locations recorded no measurable snowfall during October , adding to the month's unusually dry conditions.
The National Weather Service noted that some locations received less than half their normal October rainfall.
With November underway, the October figures provide a striking look at how unusually warm and dry the preceding month was across the region. The report does not establish whether those conditions will continue through November.
