Green Bay, WI – Wisconsin residents could experience a dramatic change in weather this week as near record October warmth gives way to much colder temperatures, widespread rain and the possibility of the season's first snowflakes in far northern Wisconsin on Friday, October 16.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, a significant shift toward autumn weather is expected late this week, with temperatures dropping sharply after several unusually warm days across northeastern and north central Wisconsin.
First Snowflakes Possible Friday Forecasters say a slight chance of snow could develop Friday in far northern Wisconsin as colder air settles into the region.
While accumulating snowfall has not been forecast, the possibility of seeing the season's first flakes marks a notable transition from the summerlike temperatures expected earlier in the week.
Friday's afternoon highs are forecast to range from 47 to 55 degrees across the Green Bay forecast area.
The potential for snow is currently limited to far northern locations, with most communities expected to experience cooler conditions rather than wintry precipitation.
From 84 Degrees to Possible Snow Monday, October 12, will bring one final burst of unusual warmth, with highs ranging from 70 to 84 degrees.
The National Weather Service says record or near record temperatures are possible before showers and a few thunderstorms develop Monday evening, particularly north of Highway 29.
Tuesday should remain relatively mild and dry, with highs between 58 and 72 degrees.
Wednesday will feature partly to mostly cloudy conditions, with temperatures ranging from 55 to 66 degrees.
Widespread Rain Arrives Thursday A more substantial weather change is expected Thursday, October 15, when widespread rain chances return across the region.
Thursday's highs should range from 56 to 63 degrees before colder conditions arrive Friday.
Residents across northern Wisconsin should monitor forecast updates as meteorologists refine the potential for the first snowflakes of the season.
Although significant snowfall is not currently indicated, the late week transition could bring a noticeably colder start to the weekend.
