Green Bay, WI – Drivers across northeastern Wisconsin could encounter hazardous visibility conditions late Thursday, Oct. 22, into Friday morning, Oct. 23, as areas of dense fog develop across the region. Some locations may experience visibility dropping to one quarter mile or less, potentially creating difficult conditions during the Friday morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, fog could begin forming as early as Thursday evening and persist into Friday morning, with visibility varying significantly over short distances.
Forecasters warn that pockets of dense fog could reduce visibility to between one quarter and one half mile, making it difficult for drivers to see vehicles, intersections and other roadway hazards.
Motorists traveling during the early morning hours should be prepared for sudden changes in visibility.
The National Weather Service recommends reducing speed, using low beam headlights and maintaining additional distance between vehicles.
Drivers should also avoid high beams, which can reflect off fog and further reduce visibility.
Conditions are expected to improve later Friday morning as the fog gradually dissipates.
Following the morning fog, northeastern Wisconsin is forecast to experience another unusually warm October day, with afternoon temperatures reaching between 60 and 73 degrees.
Above normal temperatures are expected to continue Saturday, Oct. 24, with highs ranging from 63 to 73 degrees across the forecast area.
However, the weather pattern will begin changing Saturday night into Sunday as the next opportunity for rainfall arrives.
Sunday's temperatures are expected to range from 57 to 69 degrees, with a slight chance of rain.
Cooler conditions will follow early next week.
Monday's highs are forecast between 47 and 57 degrees, while Tuesday temperatures should reach approximately 48 to 56 degrees.
Overnight lows could fall into the 30s and lower 40s early next week.
Forecasters expect any rainfall through the period to remain relatively light.
Residents should monitor updated forecasts before traveling Friday morning, particularly in areas where dense fog develops.
