Green Bay, WI – Gusty southwest winds will affect northeast Wisconsin Saturday, October 17, before strengthening Sunday as temperatures climb into the 60s. Residents across the Green Bay area should prepare for increasingly windy conditions, with sustained winds reaching 30 mph Sunday and unusually warm weather developing into next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected Saturday, accompanied by sunshine and afternoon temperatures ranging from 53 to 58 degrees.
Conditions will remain breezy across Brown County and surrounding communities, including De Pere, Ashwaubenon and areas near the Lake Michigan shoreline.
Sunday brings stronger southwest winds of 15 to 30 mph, along with partly sunny skies and afternoon highs between 59 and 65 degrees.
The increasing winds could make travel more difficult for high profile vehicles on exposed roadways. Residents should also secure lightweight outdoor decorations and other loose objects ahead of Sunday's stronger winds.
Warmer Temperatures Arrive Sunday
Despite the breezy conditions, temperatures across northeast Wisconsin are expected to rise above seasonal averages Sunday.
Saturday's highs in the 50s are relatively close to normal for mid October, but Sunday's temperatures could climb into the middle 60s in some communities.
The Weather Service expects the warming trend to continue beyond the weekend, with temperatures remaining well above normal into next weekend.
Residents planning outdoor activities should anticipate breezy conditions Saturday and Sunday, although the forecast does not indicate widespread rainfall during the weekend.
October 22–26 Extended Weather Outlook
NOAA's Climate Prediction Center favors above normal temperatures across Wisconsin during October 22–26, supporting the warmer weather pattern expected next week.
The precipitation outlook favors below normal precipitation across much of eastern Wisconsin, including the Green Bay region, suggesting an increased likelihood of relatively dry conditions.
While the extended outlook does not guarantee rain free weather, it indicates that above normal warmth could persist through late October.
Residents should monitor updated National Weather Service forecasts for changing wind speeds and temperatures.
