Black River Falls, WI – An urgent search is underway in western Wisconsin on Thursday, Oct. 8, as authorities work to locate a missing 69 year old man who disappeared while walking his dog in rural Jackson County. A Silver Alert has been issued, and search teams are returning to the area after an unsuccessful overnight effort.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff 's Office, David Burge was reported missing Wednesday, Oct. 7, at approximately 7 p.m. after he failed to return home from a walk with his dog near Wildwood Road and County Road B in Garfield Township.
Authorities said numerous emergency resources were deployed Wednesday night in an attempt to locate Burge. Search teams and additional personnel are resuming operations Thursday morning.
Missing Man's Description Burge is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds, with gray hair and green eyes.
He was last seen wearing a light colored Superman themed shirt, blue jeans and gray shoes. His dog is described as a black and brown Doberman.
Officials have released an image showing Burge walking with his dog to help residents recognize the missing pair.
Residents Asked to Check Cameras The Sheriff's Office is urging residents near Garfield Township to review home security footage and trail cameras for possible sightings of Burge or his dog.
Authorities have also warned residents to expect an increased emergency responder presence as the search continues throughout the area.
No confirmed sightings or information explaining Burge's disappearance were included in the initial release.
