Charleston, WV – West Virginia residents planning Halloween celebrations Saturday can expect a relatively mild and dry weekend before another weather system brings increasing rain chances Sunday night. Temperatures will remain slightly above seasonal averages, providing favorable conditions for trick or treating and outdoor activities.
According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, dry weather is expected to continue across much of the region through the weekend, with mostly cloudy skies on Halloween and rain chances increasing as a frontal system approaches Sunday night.
Halloween Forecast: Mild Temperatures and Dry Conditions
Saturday, October 31, is expected to bring temperatures ranging from the mid 50s to mid 60s across mountain communities, while lower elevations could reach the mid 60s to low 70s.
Overnight temperatures will generally fall into the 40s and low 50s, making light jackets a reasonable choice for families heading outdoors after sunset.
Despite the cloud cover, the forecast currently favors dry conditions throughout Halloween activities.
Warm Weather Continues Through Sunday
Thursday's temperatures are expected to reach the 60s to low 70s in the mountains and low to mid 70s in lower elevations.
Friday will remain mild, with highs ranging from the mid 50s to upper 60s in the mountains and upper 60s to mid 70s in lower elevations.
Sunday will bring another relatively warm afternoon, with mountain highs in the mid 50s to 60s and lowland temperatures reaching the upper 60s to low 70s.
Rain Chances Increase Sunday Night
The next notable weather change arrives Sunday night, November 1, as a frontal system increases the potential for rainfall.
Residents traveling late Sunday or beginning their Monday morning commute should monitor updated forecasts for possible wet conditions.
For now, Halloween festivities appear likely to benefit from a dry and seasonably mild weekend across the Charleston forecast region.
