CHARLESTON, WV – Heavy rain and gusty winds could create hazardous conditions across parts of West Virginia on Sunday, Oct. 11, as the remnants of Isaias move through the region. Forecasters warn that isolated flooding remains possible, particularly where heavier rainfall develops.
According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, rainfall totals will generally range between 0.75 and 2 inches through Sunday. Locally higher amounts could develop, increasing the potential for isolated flooding.
The agency also warns that wind gusts could reach 50 mph in higher terrain through Sunday morning.
These stronger gusts could affect exposed mountain roads and make travel difficult for high profile vehicles. Drivers should watch for standing water and avoid flooded roadways.
In Charleston, Sunday brings an 80% chance of precipitation, with rain and thunderstorms likely before showers continue into the afternoon.
Temperatures should reach approximately 72 degrees, while west winds of 7 to 15 mph could gust to 25 mph.
