Seattle, WA – As November 2026 approaches, Seattle Tacoma residents have a reminder that even unusually warm fall months can end with freezing temperatures. November 2025 ranked among the warmest on record at Seattle Tacoma International Airport, yet temperatures still dropped to 31 degrees before December arrived.
According to National Weather Service climate statistics, November 2025 averaged 48.6 degrees at Seattle Tacoma, ranking as the seventh warmest November in 81 years of records. The monthly average was 2.1 degrees above normal.
The month's average high reached 53.5 degrees, while the average low was 43.7 degrees. Both ranked among the warmest November averages on record.
Warm November Still Delivered Freezing Cold Temperatures reached 63 degrees on Nov. 9 before dropping to 31 degrees on Nov. 30, a difference of 32 degrees between the month's warmest and coldest readings.
The late month drop illustrates how quickly conditions can change across King County and the greater Seattle metropolitan area.
For residents preparing for winter, the historical figures reinforce the importance of monitoring overnight temperatures, even after extended periods of relatively mild weather.
Rainfall Remained a Major Seasonal Factor Seattle Tacoma recorded 5.71 inches of precipitation during November 2025, approximately 0.60 inches below normal.
Despite the warmer than average conditions, rainfall remained a regular feature throughout the month.
Wet pavement, reduced visibility and colder overnight temperatures can create changing travel conditions along Interstate 5, Interstate 405 and other regional highways.
What November 2025 Means Heading Into 2026 These figures are historical observations, not a forecast for November 2026.
However, they demonstrate that an unusually warm November does not eliminate the possibility of freezing temperatures before winter officially begins.
Residents can prepare by checking heating systems, protecting sensitive plants and monitoring National Weather Service forecasts.
Last November's warmth, persistent rainfall and late freezing temperatures offer a reminder that seasonal changes can arrive even during an otherwise mild month.
