Seattle, WA – Halloween celebrations across the Pacific Northwest could feature cooler than normal temperatures as Saturday, October 31, approaches. Families preparing for trick or treating, costume parties and outdoor festivals may want to plan for chilly conditions, while rainfall remains a possibility across the region.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Prediction Center, the October 27–31 outlook favors below normal temperatures across Washington and portions of Oregon and Idaho, while precipitation expectations remain closer to seasonal averages in many areas.
Cooler Halloween Weather Expected
Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Spokane and surrounding Washington communities are positioned within areas favoring below average temperatures during the five day period.
The cooler temperature signal also extends into portions of northern Oregon and Idaho, although conditions become less certain farther south.
Portland and Boise could experience cooler late October weather, but the strength of that signal varies by location.
For families planning outdoor Halloween activities, the cooler pattern may make jackets and warmer costume layers especially useful after sunset.
Will Halloween Stay Dry?
Unlike California, where NOAA favors a wetter than normal pattern, much of the Pacific Northwest remains closer to near normal precipitation expectations.
This includes portions of western Washington and Oregon, where occasional rainfall is common during late October.
Near normal precipitation does not necessarily mean dry weather, and showers could still affect outdoor Halloween events.
The outlook also does not establish whether skies will be clear or cloudy during trick or treating hours.
What to Expect Halloween Night
With Halloween falling on Saturday, evening temperatures could become an important consideration for families across Seattle, Portland, Spokane and Boise.
Rain remains possible, but the extended outlook does not indicate a widespread, unusually wet pattern across the entire region.
Residents should monitor updated forecasts for shower timing, cloud cover and nighttime temperatures.
For now, cooler than normal conditions are the primary weather concern across much of the Pacific Northwest, with precipitation generally expected to remain closer to seasonal averages.
