Everett, WA – Two high value luxury vehicles worth an estimated $400,000 combined have been recovered in Snohomish County after investigators linked their thefts to allegedly fraudulent transactions involving auctions and commercial transportation services.
According to the Snohomish County Sheriff& 39;s Office, South County deputies assisted the Snohomish County Auto Theft Task Force, known as SNOCAT, at approximately 1:52 p.m. Tuesday in recovering a 2022 Bentley and a 2021 Aston Martin.
Investigators determined that both vehicles had allegedly been stolen through fraudulent transactions involving vehicle auctions and commercial transportation services, the sheriff& 39;s office said.
Authorities also discovered that the vehicle identification numbers, commonly known as VINs, had either been altered or were in the process of being altered. Investigators believe the changes were an apparent attempt to conceal the vehicles& 39; true identities and ownership.
The investigation was led by Marysville Police Sgt. Derek Carlile, who serves as the SNOCAT sergeant, with assistance from South County deputies.
Photos released by the sheriff& 39;s office show the recovered luxury vehicles inside a law enforcement facility, including the black Bentley and Aston Martin.
The recovery highlights an ongoing investigation into vehicle theft and fraud in Snohomish County, part of the greater Seattle metropolitan area. Authorities did not announce any arrests or identify potential suspects in the information released Wednesday.
The sheriff& 39;s office said the investigation remains ongoing. Additional information, including whether charges are expected or how investigators located the vehicles, was not immediately released.
