Wakefield, VA – Residents across eastern and southeastern Virginia should prepare for widespread rainfall beginning Saturday night, October 10, as tropical moisture moves into the Mid Atlantic region. Forecasters expect most communities to receive 1 to 2 inches of rain through Sunday, with isolated totals of 3 inches or more possible near the Virginia North Carolina border.
According to the National Weather Service NWS in Wakefield , moisture associated with the remnants of Hurricane Isaias will bring increasing rain chances late Saturday and continuing through Sunday, October 11.
The forecast covers a broad area, including Richmond, Petersburg, Williamsburg, Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk and Virginia Beach, along with communities in northeastern North Carolina.
The heaviest rainfall totals could develop farther south.
Forecasters indicate that isolated areas of northeastern North Carolina could receive 3 inches or more, with locally higher totals also possible across southeastern Virginia.
