VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Residents across Virginia Beach and the greater Hampton Roads area should prepare for a noticeable Halloween weekend cooldown as Friday's sunny skies and temperatures near 77 degrees give way to cooler afternoons, gusty overnight winds and temperatures falling into the upper 40s.
According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, Virginia, Friday will bring sunshine and an afternoon high near 77 degrees. West winds of 5 to 8 mph will shift north during the afternoon, marking the beginning of a cooler weather pattern.
Friday night will remain mostly clear, with temperatures falling to approximately 53 degrees.
North winds of 7 to 15 mph could produce gusts reaching 23 mph overnight.
Halloween Saturday Brings a 16 Degree Drop
Saturday will remain mostly sunny, but afternoon temperatures will reach only around 61 degrees, approximately 16 degrees cooler than Friday.
North winds of 11 to 15 mph will accompany the cooler conditions, making outdoor activities feel noticeably different from Friday's warmth.
By Saturday night, temperatures are expected to fall to around 49 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.
That represents a 28 degree difference between Friday's afternoon high and Saturday night's forecast low.
Families attending Halloween celebrations, trick or treating or outdoor events should consider jackets and additional layers.
Temperatures Gradually Recover Sunday
Sunday will bring partly sunny skies and a high near 64 degrees, with east winds of 8 to 10 mph.
Sunday night temperatures will remain around 57 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.
Monday will reach approximately 65 degrees before temperatures climb to around 68 degrees Tuesday.
Wednesday could bring highs near 69 degrees, followed by increasing rain chances Wednesday night.
