Sterling, VA – Two people were shot early Sunday morning in Sterling, prompting an active investigation by the Loudoun County Sheriff ’s Office, which says there is currently no known threat to the community.
According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 2:06 a.m. Sunday to a report of a shooting with multiple victims in the 46000 block of Community Plaza.
Investigators learned that two people had been shot and were driven to a nearby hospital by people who were at the scene. Both victims were being treated for injuries described by authorities as non life threatening.
The sheriff’s office did not immediately release information about what may have led to the shooting, the identities of the victims or whether investigators have identified a possible suspect.
The investigation remained active and ongoing Sunday. Authorities emphasized that there was no known threat to the surrounding Sterling community as of the latest update.
Sterling is in Loudoun County in Northern Virginia, northwest of Washington, D.C., making the early morning shooting a concern for residents in the broader Washington metropolitan area.
Detectives are now seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or knows more about what happened.
