Roanoke, VA – With November 2026 approaching, last year's weather records reveal an unusually dry period across Virginia's Roanoke Valley. The city experienced its seventh driest November in 110 years, receiving only a fraction of its typical precipitation while finishing the month without measurable snowfall.
According to the National Weather Service's November 2025 climate summary for Roanoke, the city recorded just 0.52 inches of precipitation, compared with a historical November normal of 3.09 inches. That represents a deficit of 2.57 inches, or approximately 83% below normal.

These figures demonstrate how unusually limited rainfall was during November 2025.
Despite occasional precipitation, no single day delivered enough moisture to significantly increase the monthly total.
November Snowfall Was Nearly Absent Roanoke also finished November without measurable snowfall.
The National Weather Service reported only a trace of snow, compared with a historical monthly normal of 0.8 inches.
A trace indicates snow was observed but did not accumulate enough to register as a measurable amount.
The report listed zero days with at least 0.1 inches of snowfall.
November's snowfall total ranked tied for the 27th lowest in the station's 95 year snowfall record.
Although the city has experienced accumulating November snow in previous years, conditions during November 2025 did not produce measurable accumulation.

What November 2025 Means for 2026 For residents across Roanoke, Roanoke County, Salem and surrounding Southwest Virginia communities, last year's records provide an important reminder about seasonal weather variability.
However, an unusually dry November in 2025 does not mean November 2026 will follow the same pattern.
Future precipitation will depend on approaching weather systems, available atmospheric moisture and changing temperatures.
The combination of limited rainfall, above normal temperatures and almost no snowfall made November 2025 particularly noteworthy.
As November 2026 approaches, will Roanoke experience a return to more typical precipitation, or could another unusually dry November develop?
