Blacksburg, VA – Dry, quiet weather is expected across southwest Virginia Monday, Oct. 5, as high pressure moves into the region, bringing slightly warmer than normal afternoon temperatures before a cooler night.
According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, skies will remain generally clear as temperatures return closer to normal overnight. The agency's forecast graphic shows Monday highs largely in the 70s across its Virginia forecast area.
Blacksburg is forecast to reach around 75 degrees Monday before dropping to about 42 overnight. Roanoke is expected to reach roughly 78, with an overnight low near 47.
Farther east, Lynchburg is forecast to reach around 79 degrees before falling to about 46 overnight. Danville could reach about 75 Monday and cool to around 50 overnight.
Cooler conditions are expected in some higher elevation and western locations. Lewisburg, West Virginia, is forecast to fall to around 36 degrees overnight, while Bluefield and Wytheville could reach about 40.
No significant precipitation or hazardous weather is highlighted in the NWS update. Instead, dry high pressure will become established over the area by Monday night.
Residents across southwest Virginia can expect a mild and dry Monday afternoon followed by a clear, considerably cooler night, with temperatures settling back toward seasonal norms.
