ANNANDALE, Va. — November is starting with a steady warming trend across northern Virginia, with temperatures expected to climb from the mid 60s Sunday into the lower 70s Tuesday before reaching around 74 degrees Wednesday.
The National Weather Service forecast for Annandale calls for a high near 65 Sunday, Nov. 1, followed by 67 Monday. Temperatures then rise to around 71 Tuesday and approximately 74 Wednesday, Nov. 4 .
70s Arrive Tuesday Clouds gradually decrease Sunday before mostly sunny weather develops Monday.
Tuesday turns sunny with a high near 71, followed by another mostly sunny day Wednesday as temperatures reach the warmest point of the current forecast.
Nighttime temperatures also trend noticeably milder. Sunday night falls to around 44, followed by 45 Monday night and 50 Tuesday night. By Wednesday night, temperatures are expected to remain near 58.
That gives northern Virginia a clear early November transition from cooler fall weather into several increasingly mild afternoons.
Rain Returns Thursday The first rain chance arrives late Wednesday night, when the Weather Service lists a 20% chance after 1 a.m.
Rain becomes likely Thursday, Nov. 5, with a 60% chance of precipitation and a high near 73. Rain remains likely Thursday night, with another 60% chance and a low around 59.
Friday stays unsettled with a 50% rain chance and a high near 71. Rain chances decrease to 40% Friday night and just 20% Saturday, when the high is expected near 68.
The rain interrupts the warm stretch but does not immediately produce a sharp cooldown.
Warm First Half of November Favored The local forecast fits the broader Mid Atlantic pattern now taking shape.
NOAA's November temperature outlook favors above normal temperatures across Virginia, while the Climate Prediction Center's separate Nov. 8–14 outlook continues to favor above normal temperatures across the Mid Atlantic.
The weather desk framework identifies a warm first half of November as the primary regional theme, with precipitation carrying a weaker extended signal.
That does not mean Annandale will remain in the 70s every day through Nov. 14. Individual cold fronts and cooler days remain possible. CPC guidance describes average conditions across the seven day period rather than exact daily temperatures.
For Annandale, though, the first week trend is straightforward: 65 Sunday, 67 Monday, 71 Tuesday, 74 Wednesday and 73 Thursday before temperatures gradually ease.
It remains too early for a specific Thanksgiving Day forecast on Nov. 26, but the persistent warmth will be worth watching as northern Virginia moves closer to Thanksgiving and holiday travel season.
