West Rutland, VT – Authorities are asking for the public's help after a series of vandalism incidents damaged fencing and other fixtures at a bird watch boardwalk in West Rutland.
According to the Rutland County Sheriff 's Office, investigators are looking into vandalism at the bird watch boardwalk area along the Marble Street Extension. The sheriff's office announced its request for information Thursday.
Deputies said the damage includes vandalized fencing material and graffiti found on several fixtures around the property. The incidents are being investigated as unlawful mischief.
The sheriff's office did not specify how many individual incidents have been reported, when the vandalism began or provide an estimated cost of the damage.
Investigators are now asking residents and visitors who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area to come forward. Authorities are also interested in hearing from anyone who knows about previous incidents at the boardwalk that could be connected to the investigation.
Cpl. Gregory Ricketts of the Rutland County Sheriff's Office is investigating the case.
