Rutland, VT – Christmas preparations are already underway in Rutland County, where the Sheriff's Department is asking residents to help fill a cruiser with gifts for local children and families this holiday season.
According to the Rutland County Sheriff's Department, its annual Stuff A Cruiser campaign is collecting donations now through Friday, Dec. 18. The department is seeking new, unwrapped toys along with clothing and gift cards.
Donations can be dropped off at the Rutland County Sheriff's Department at 88 Grove St. in Rutland . The collected items will be used to help make Christmas brighter for families in the local community.
"Every toy makes a difference. Every donation helps," the department said while announcing this year's campaign.
The Sheriff's Department plans to continue collecting items throughout the fall before holding its Stuff A Cruiser event in December. Additional details about the December event are expected to be announced later.
The Christmas campaign is not the department's only holiday assistance effort. Officials said a Thanksgiving food drive will run alongside the toy drive, providing another way for residents to support families during the holiday season.
The department's promotional material lists toys, clothes and gift cards among the requested Stuff A Cruiser donations, with Dec. 18 set as the collection deadline.
Organizers are encouraging residents who want to participate to bring their donations directly to the Sheriff's Department and help fill the cruiser before Christmas.
With Thanksgiving and Christmas approaching, the campaign gives Rutland County residents several weeks to contribute and help local families during a time of year when expenses can add up quickly.
Further information about the December Stuff A Cruiser event will be released by the department as the date approaches.
