Burlington, VT – Temperatures will climb across Vermont and northern New York through late week before a cold front brings scattered to likely showers Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, temperatures are expected to rebound into the 60s and lower 70s Wednesday. Even warmer conditions are forecast Thursday and Friday, with highs ranging from the upper 60s to middle 70s across much of the region.
The warming trend extends from the Champlain Valley into northern New York and across much of Vermont. Communities included in the NWS forecast graphic include Burlington, Montpelier, Rutland and St. Johnsbury in Vermont, along with Plattsburgh, Malone, Massena and Tupper Lake in New York.
Thursday should remain warm ahead of the next weather system, while Friday brings a higher chance for precipitation.
A cold front is expected to cross the region Friday, producing scattered to likely showers. The weather service places rain chances generally between 40% and 65%, meaning precipitation is expected in portions of the region but will not necessarily occur everywhere at the same time.
The front will also mark the end of the late week warmth.
Cooler temperatures and sunshine are expected Saturday after the front moves through, according to the NWS. Forecast temperatures shown across the region drop noticeably from Friday into Saturday, particularly during the morning hours.
Residents should expect Wednesday through Thursday to feature the warmest and generally driest stretch, followed by increasing shower chances Friday. Updated forecasts will refine the timing and coverage of the rain as the cold front approaches.
