Salt Lake City, UT – Utah could be another state to watch for mountain snow next week as a developing western storm approaches the Rockies, although a specific Utah snow forecast is not yet established by the Colorado outlook.
The National Weather Service in Pueblo, Colorado, said Tuesday that confidence is increasing that Colorado’s Continental Divide mountains will receive accumulating snow as a storm crosses the Rockies around Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 12 14.
The possible storm tracks shown by the NWS extend west of Colorado into the broader interior West, making Utah one area worth monitoring as forecasters determine where the system ultimately moves.
However, the Pueblo outlook does not specifically forecast accumulating snow in Utah. The storm’s exact track, strength and timing remain uncertain, and those details will determine how much cold air and precipitation reach Utah and other parts of the central Rockies.
A favorable combination of colder air and precipitation could support snow in higher elevations, but it is too early to specify Utah snowfall amounts, elevations or individual mountain ranges from this outlook alone.
Winter weather in the Rockies during October is also not unusual. The NWS emphasized that point in its Colorado outlook, particularly for mountain areas.
For now, Colorado has the clearest signal for accumulating mountain snow. Utah remains a possible part of the broader developing western storm , rather than an area where this source confirms snow.
Readers should watch for additional National Weather Service and broader federal forecast guidance as the system approaches. Those updates should provide a clearer picture of whether accumulating snow expands west of Colorado into Utah next week.
