Texarkana, TX – Residents across northeast Texas and southeast Oklahoma could face strong thunderstorms Monday evening, Nov. 2, as a developing severe weather threat brings the possibility of damaging wind gusts near 60 mph.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, thunderstorms are expected to move into northeast Texas and southeast Oklahoma Monday night, with damaging winds identified as the primary severe weather concern.
The latest outlook places portions of northeast Texas and southeast Oklahoma under a Level 1 of 5 marginal risk for severe thunderstorms. A smaller area farther northwest is under a Level 2 of 5 slight risk, indicating a greater potential for isolated severe storms.
Communities around Texarkana, Clarksville, Mount Pleasant, Longview and Tyler are within or near the highlighted risk area. Southeast Oklahoma communities near Broken Bow could also experience strong storms, while neighboring areas of southwest Arkansas should monitor changing conditions.
Forecasters indicate damaging wind gusts around 60 mph are possible with stronger thunderstorms. The tornado threat remains very low, while large hail is not currently considered a major concern.
The greatest concern develops Monday evening, Nov. 2, as thunderstorms move into the region. Strong gusts could make driving difficult, particularly along Interstate 30 and other exposed roadways.
Heavy downpours may also temporarily reduce visibility for motorists traveling during the evening and overnight hours.
Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items, charge mobile devices and prepare multiple ways to receive weather warnings before storms arrive.
Although severe weather is not guaranteed at every location, the National Weather Service emphasizes the importance of monitoring updated forecasts as the storm system approaches.
Residents across Bowie County, Texas, and McCurtain County, Oklahoma, should remain weather aware Monday night and be prepared to seek shelter if severe thunderstorm warnings are issued.
