Shreveport, LA – Halloween plans across northwest Louisiana and the surrounding Ark La Tex region could face disruptions Saturday, Oct. 31, as forecasters track increasing rain chances that may affect trick or treating and other outdoor celebrations. However, whether showers will arrive during the evening festivities remains uncertain.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, confidence is increasing that rain will develop somewhere across the region this weekend, with the highest precipitation chances currently expected during the daytime hours Saturday.
The biggest question is whether rainfall will continue into Halloween night.
Forecasters say the timing and amounts of precipitation remain uncertain, making it too early to determine exactly which communities will experience wet conditions during trick or treating.
The National Weather Service's latest Halloween night precipitation outlook shows varying probabilities across Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas.
The forecast graphic indicates approximately a 21% probability of receiving at least one tenth of an inch of rain near Shreveport, with probabilities around 33% near Natchitoches and 39% near Alexandria.
Farther east, probabilities reach approximately 42% near Greenville, Mississippi, suggesting that rainfall potential may differ considerably across the broader forecast area.
Saturday, Oct. 31, currently appears to offer the greatest opportunity for rainfall , although showers could move out of some communities before evening activities begin.
For families planning trick or treating in Shreveport, Bossier City, Texarkana and surrounding communities, having an indoor backup plan may be worthwhile as the forecast develops.
Outdoor Halloween festivals, neighborhood celebrations and community events could also be affected if rain overlaps with scheduled activities.
Importantly, the National Weather Service has not indicated that every community will experience rainfall, and the current forecast does not establish widespread severe weather.
Forecasters expect greater clarity regarding precipitation timing and coverage as Halloween approaches.
Residents should continue checking updated National Weather Service forecasts throughout the week before making final decisions about Saturday evening activities.
