San Antonio, TX – Rain and thunderstorm chances are increasing across South Central Texas, with locally heavy rainfall possible Thursday and Friday, October 29 30, particularly near the Rio Grande Plains and southern Edwards Plateau.
According to the National Weather Service Austin San Antonio office, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected Wednesday, October 28, before rain chances increase across portions of the region heading into the weekend.
Wednesday will remain mostly cloudy and warm, with afternoon temperatures generally ranging from the upper 70s to upper 80s.
The greatest rain chances Wednesday will be across the Coastal Plains and portions of the Interstate 35 corridor, where precipitation probabilities range from 20% to 60%.
By Thursday, October 29, rainfall becomes more likely farther west.
Del Rio faces a 95% chance of rain Thursday, while Uvalde has an 85% chance. Kerrville's rain probability reaches 70%, and San Antonio has a 60% chance of showers.
Friday, October 30, could bring additional heavy downpours , especially near Del Rio, where rain chances remain at 95%.
Uvalde has a 75% chance of rain Friday, while Kerrville and Llano face probabilities near 65%.
Rain chances are lower in Austin and San Antonio, at approximately 30% Friday.
The National Weather Service warns that locally heavy rainfall is possible, which could create reduced visibility and wet road conditions for motorists.
Temperatures will remain relatively warm despite the unsettled weather, with highs generally in the upper 70s and 80s.
For Halloween on Saturday, October 31, isolated showers remain possible, although rain chances decrease significantly across much of the region.
Drier weather is expected to return Saturday night into Sunday, November 1.
However, another cold front approaching late Monday into Tuesday could bring renewed rainfall chances across South Central Texas.
Residents should monitor updated forecasts, particularly in locations where repeated downpours may develop.
