SAN ANTONIO, TX — San Antonio is approaching November with another stretch of summerlike afternoon temperatures, as highs climb toward 88 degrees across South Central Texas this week. The unusually warm feeling October weather raises questions about whether the pattern could continue into NOAA's Oct. 26–Nov. 1 extended outlook period.
According to NOAA's Climate Prediction Center, the eight to 14 day outlook issued Oct. 18 covers Monday, Oct. 26, through Sunday, Nov. 1. The outlook evaluates whether average temperatures and total precipitation are favored to finish above, near or below normal. The corresponding Texas temperature and precipitation map categories have not yet been verified for this report.
San Antonio Temperatures Climb Toward 90 Degrees The National Weather Service forecast for San Antonio shows a steady warming trend beginning Monday, Oct. 19, with mostly sunny skies and an afternoon high near 79 degrees.
Tuesday brings additional warmth, with sunshine and temperatures reaching approximately 84 degrees.
By Wednesday, highs are expected near 86 degrees, followed by 88 degrees Thursday.
That level of warmth is forecast to continue Friday and Saturday, with highs again approaching 88 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
Sunday, Oct. 25, could bring another high near 88 degrees, although a 20% chance of showers enters the forecast.
While temperatures are not currently expected to reach 90 degrees, several consecutive afternoons in the upper 80s could make the final full week of October feel more like an extension of summer.
Warm Nights and Limited Rainfall Overnight temperatures will also remain relatively mild following Monday morning's cooler start.
Monday night is expected to bring a low near 63 degrees, followed by another low around 63 Tuesday night.
Wednesday night could remain near 64 degrees, while Thursday night drops to approximately 63.
Friday and Saturday nights are forecast to stay warmer, with lows near 67 and 68 degrees, respectively.
At San Antonio's Kelly Field, the temperature was 54 degrees early Monday, with fair skies and calm winds.
For residents planning outdoor activities, the forecast provides several opportunities for sunshine. However, afternoon temperatures approaching 90 degrees can still make prolonged outdoor work or exercise uncomfortable.
The supplied local forecast shows no significant rainfall through Saturday, with only a slight shower chance Sunday.
Could South Central Texas Stay Warm Into November? The main uncertainty concerns what happens after Sunday, Oct. 25.
The immediate forecast establishes several days of temperatures in the 80s, but it does not provide daily highs or lows for the Oct. 26–Nov. 1 period.
Conditions across Texas can vary considerably between the Hill Country, San Antonio, Austin, the Gulf Coast and northern portions of the state.
The CPC temperature outlook will help establish whether above normal warmth is favored across those regions or whether the signal weakens farther north.
Its separate precipitation outlook will also help determine whether wetter or drier conditions are favored as November begins.
For now, San Antonio residents should prepare for another warm and predominantly sunny October week, with temperatures peaking near 88 degrees.
Later National Weather Service forecasts will clarify whether the warmth persists into November and whether meaningful rainfall returns.
Are you enjoying these late October temperatures in the upper 80s, or are you ready for cooler fall weather in San Antonio?
