Lubbock, TX – Milder weather is expected across the South Plains and nearby areas Monday, Oct. 5, with afternoon temperatures reaching the upper 70s and 80s before a cooler night.
According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, partly to mostly sunny skies are expected during the day, followed by overnight lows generally in the 50s.
Lubbock is forecast to reach 80 degrees Monday, with a nighttime low around 59. The NWS graphic also indicates a 10% precipitation chance for the city.
Temperatures will vary across the region. Plainview is forecast to reach 78 with a low of 57, while Brownfield should reach 79 before falling to 58. Brownfield also has a 10% precipitation chance.
Farther east, Childress is expected to climb to 83 degrees before cooling to 58 overnight. Aspermont has the warmest forecast among the locations highlighted by the NWS, with a high of 87 and a low near 59.
Friona will be cooler, with a forecast high of 75 and an overnight low around 58.
The outlook does not indicate widespread rain or hazardous weather. Instead, the main weather story Monday will be warmer afternoon conditions under considerable sunshine followed by cooler temperatures after sunset.
Residents across the Lubbock area should expect a mild and mostly dry Monday, with temperatures dropping back into the 50s overnight.
