Lubbock, Texas – Fall begins Tuesday with mostly cloudy skies, a high near 80 degrees and a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms around Lubbock.
According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, showers and a few thunderstorms will linger across the region Tuesday and Tuesday night. Most locations have a 30% to 40% chance of rain.
Temperatures will be relatively cool for the region, with afternoon highs generally in the 70s and 80s. Lubbock is expected to reach 80 degrees before falling to around 65 overnight.
Plainview will be cooler, reaching about 78 degrees with a 40% rain chance. Temperatures there could fall to around 60 Tuesday night.
Farther southwest, Brownfield reaches about 81 degrees with a 40% chance of rain before temperatures fall to 63. Friona has a 30% rain chance, a high near 79 and an overnight low around 58.
Warmer conditions are expected farther east. Childress reaches about 83 degrees with a 40% chance of precipitation, while Aspermont could climb to 88 with a 30% chance. Overnight lows are expected to reach 64 in Childress and 69 in Aspermont.
For drivers and anyone with outdoor plans, showers and thunderstorms could produce changing conditions at times Tuesday and Tuesday night. The Weather Service information provided does not indicate that rain will occur continuously or affect every community.
