Houston, TX – Southeast Texas residents are facing another stretch of unusually warm October weather Sunday, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the upper 80s and lower 90s before rain chances increase early this week and cooler conditions arrive by Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service Houston Galveston office, Sunday's forecast calls for partly cloudy skies, relatively low humidity and afternoon highs ranging from 84 to 93 degrees across the region.
Houston is expected to reach approximately 90 degrees, while College Station and Brenham could climb to 93. Galveston should remain cooler near 84 degrees.
Southeast winds will increase to 10 20 mph Sunday afternoon before weakening during the evening.
Rain Chances Increase Monday and Tuesday
Sunday night will bring partly cloudy skies and increasing humidity, with overnight lows ranging from the mid 60s to mid 70s inland and 75 80 degrees near coastal beaches.
Rain chances return Monday and Tuesday, particularly around the Houston metropolitan area.
Houston faces a 45% chance of precipitation Monday, increasing to 65% Tuesday , according to the weather service.
Baytown and League City could see rain probabilities reaching 60% Tuesday.
Drivers should monitor changing road conditions during any showers, especially along major commuting routes including Interstate 10, Interstate 45 and U.S. Highway 59.
Cooler Temperatures Expected by Saturday
The extended forecast shows highs remaining near 90 degrees through Thursday before temperatures begin falling late in the week.
Houston's forecast high drops from 90 degrees Thursday to 87 Friday and 81 Saturday .
College Station could experience a more substantial change, falling from 91 degrees Thursday to 76 Saturday.
Overnight temperatures will also decrease, with Saturday morning lows forecast near 64 degrees in Houston and 55 in College Station.
The National Weather Service indicated that a possible cold front is beginning to appear in the extended outlook.
Residents should continue monitoring updated forecasts as the timing and strength of the potential cooldown become clearer.
