Houston, TX – Southeast Texas residents face another unusually hot and humid October day Monday, October 12, as temperatures climb into the middle 90s inland, scattered showers develop near the Gulf Coast and patchy fog becomes possible overnight.
According to the National Weather Service NWS in Houston Galveston, warm and muggy conditions will dominate the region Monday, with afternoon highs ranging from 89 to 94 degrees inland and 86 to 90 degrees along area beaches.
Houston, Galveston and surrounding communities can expect summerlike conditions , despite the calendar moving deeper into October. Southeast winds between 10 and 20 mph will accompany the warm temperatures, while scattered showers remain possible along the coast.
The highest temperatures are expected farther inland, where some communities could approach 94 degrees during the afternoon. Coastal locations should remain slightly cooler, although humidity will continue to make conditions feel muggy.
Monday night brings another weather concern: patchy fog.
Forecasters expect mostly cloudy skies overnight, with temperatures dropping into the 73 to 77 degree range inland. Beach communities will remain warmer, with overnight lows between 78 and 80 degrees.
Patchy fog could develop farther inland, while isolated showers continue near the Gulf Coast. Winds will become lighter from the southeast overnight.
For drivers traveling through the Houston metropolitan area and surrounding inland communities, developing fog could reduce visibility in some locations late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, residents near Galveston, coastal Brazoria County and other Gulf facing communities should remain prepared for occasional showers.
Although rain is possible near the coast, the forecast does not indicate widespread severe thunderstorms or significant flooding.
Residents planning outdoor activities should account for the afternoon heat and humidity, particularly during the warmest hours of the day.
