Houston, TX – Warm, mostly dry weather will dominate Southeast Texas Wednesday, Oct. 7, as lower humidity and northerly winds accompany highs near 90 degrees, while the outlook for late week rain remains uncertain.
According to the National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston, Wednesday highs across the region will range from 88 to 94 degrees. Houston is forecast to reach about 91, with College Station and Conroe near 91 and Galveston around 88.
Some of the hottest readings are expected southwest of Houston. Wharton is forecast near 93 degrees, while temperatures could reach 94 around Palacios.
North to northeast winds around 5 to 10 mph are expected Wednesday, with breezier conditions near the coast. Humidity will be lower, though isolated or spotty showers remain possible near the immediate coast. Better chances for showers and thunderstorms will stay offshore.
Attention later in the forecast turns to Tropical Storm Isaias. The NWS said the storm's forecast track has been trending eastward, which could lead forecasters to reduce Southeast Texas rainfall chances in future updates.
Current rain probabilities remain relatively low through much of the period. Houston's precipitation chance increases to around 25% by Tuesday in the extended outlook, but those probabilities could change as the tropical system's track becomes clearer.
Despite the eastward trend, the NWS cautions that hazardous Gulf seas remain possible. The forecast provided does not indicate a direct tropical storm impact for Houston.
Residents should expect hot, generally dry conditions in the near term while monitoring forecast updates for possible changes to late week rainfall and Gulf marine conditions as Isaias' track evolves.
