HOUSTON — Dense fog is creating the first weather concern of November across Southeast Texas, but Houston's larger early week story will shift quickly from low visibility to 80 degree warmth and then widespread rain Tuesday.
The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has a Dense Fog Advisory in effect until 10 a.m. CST Sunday, Nov. 1 , with visibility potentially falling to one quarter mile or less. The advisory covers portions of Southeast Texas, including the Houston metro, and warns that low visibility could make driving hazardous.
82° Warmth Follows the Fog Houston Hobby Airport was reporting fog and mist early Sunday with temperatures in the lower 70s. Once the fog improves, the local forecast calls for partly sunny skies and a high near 82 degrees .
Patchy fog may redevelop Sunday night into Monday morning. Monday then becomes mostly sunny with another high near 82 , while southeast winds increase and could gust around 20 mph.
That keeps the opening days of November firmly on the warm side before the next system arrives.
90% Rain Chance Tuesday Tuesday, Nov. 3, brings the most significant change.
The Weather Service forecasts showers with a possible thunderstorm and a 90% chance of precipitation , while the high reaches around 79. Rain chances continue Tuesday night at 40% before cooler and much drier air arrives.
Wednesday turns sunny with a high near 73 , followed by a cooler Wednesday night around 58. Thursday rebounds to about 76 with only a 20% afternoon shower chance. Friday reaches around 75, followed by roughly 74 Saturday.
That gives Houston a clear first week sequence: fog Sunday, 82° warmth Sunday and Monday, widespread rain Tuesday, then a cooler and sunnier Wednesday.
Warmer, Wetter Signal Nov. 8–14 The cooler midweek turn does not necessarily represent the broader second week pattern.
NOAA's Nov. 8–14 outlook favors above normal temperatures across Texas , while above normal precipitation is also favored across substantial portions of the state.
The precipitation signal remains relevant because much of Texas continues to show a wetter tendency into the second week of November.
That does not mean Houston will see rain every day from Nov. 8–14 or that specific 80 degree highs are guaranteed. The CPC outlook describes average temperatures and total precipitation across the seven day period.
As Thanksgiving and holiday travel season approach, the larger question will be whether Houston's warmer, wetter November pattern persists deeper into the month.
