HOUSTON, TX — Houston is heading toward the beginning of November with another stretch of warm fall weather already taking shape. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid 80s later this week, with abundant sunshine and little indication of rain in the immediate forecast. The conditions come ahead of NOAA's extended weather outlook for Oct. 26–Nov. 1, which will help determine whether the warmth could continue into the new month.
According to NOAA's Climate Prediction Center, the eight to 14 day outlook issued Sunday, Oct. 18, covers the final six days of October and the first day of November. The outlook evaluates whether average temperatures and total precipitation are more likely to finish above, near or below normal. Texas specific probability categories from the corresponding maps have not yet been verified for this report.
Houston Temperatures Climb Toward the Mid 80s The National Weather Service forecast for Houston shows a steady warming trend during the week beginning Monday, Oct. 19.
Monday is expected to bring partly sunny skies and a high near 78 degrees, accompanied by northeast winds of 5 to 10 mph.
By Tuesday, sunshine returns as temperatures climb to approximately 81 degrees. Overnight lows are expected to remain in the lower 60s, offering relatively comfortable conditions during the morning and evening hours.
Wednesday brings another increase, with highs reaching approximately 84 degrees under sunny skies.
Thursday is expected to be warmer still, with a forecast high near 85 degrees and clear conditions continuing into the evening.
The warmest temperatures in the immediate forecast arrive Friday and Saturday, when Houston could reach 86 degrees on both afternoons.
Southeast Texas Faces Another Warm October Weekend The extended local forecast keeps temperatures elevated through the weekend, with Sunday's high expected near 85 degrees.
Overnight temperatures also remain mild, generally ranging from the lower to upper 60s during the latter half of the week.
At Houston's Hobby Airport, temperatures were 60 degrees early Monday, with partly cloudy skies and humidity at 72%. Winds were light from the north.
The combination of sunshine, mild mornings and warm afternoons offers favorable conditions for many outdoor activities, although residents working outside during the afternoon should continue taking precautions against heat exposure.
Will Warm Weather Continue Into November? The larger question is whether the pattern will persist after Sunday, Oct. 25.
Houston's immediate forecast establishes several consecutive days of temperatures in the 80s, but it does not determine conditions during NOAA's Oct. 26–Nov. 1 outlook period.
That distinction matters across Texas, where the Gulf Coast, central portions of the state and northern communities can experience substantially different autumn temperature patterns.
The CPC temperature and precipitation maps are needed to establish whether Houston and other Texas regions favor above normal warmth, below normal rainfall or a different outcome during the November transition.
As the forecast period approaches, updated guidance should provide clearer information about individual daily temperatures, rain chances and any potential changes to the warm pattern.
Would you welcome more 80 degree afternoons in Houston as November arrives, or are you ready for cooler fall weather?
