Houston, Texas – Highs near 100 and isolated storms remain possible Wednesday before a weak front brings drier conditions to Southeast Texas.
According to the National Weather Service Houston Galveston, hot weather remains on track Wednesday, with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible. A weak frontal boundary pushes into Southeast Texas Wednesday night into Thursday morning, bringing drier conditions into the weekend.
Temperatures reach the upper 90s across much of the region Wednesday. The Weather Service map shows 99 degrees near College Station, 98 at Brenham and 97 around Houston. Huntsville reaches 95, while coastal Galveston is cooler at 92.
Houston is also under an air quality alert Wednesday. The Weather Service information indicates high ozone levels are possible, particularly around the Houston Galveston area. Residents can reduce exposure by limiting prolonged outdoor activity when air quality deteriorates and limiting unnecessary driving or carpooling when possible.
Rain chances remain isolated. The Weather Service map shows probabilities generally ranging from 20% to 30% in areas where storms are possible, including parts of the coast and locations west of Houston.
Overnight temperatures offer limited relief near the coast. Houston falls to around 80 degrees, while Galveston remains near 82. Inland communities generally drop into the mid 70s.
The frontal boundary should shift the pattern beginning Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Drier air is expected behind it, with dry conditions continuing through the weekend.
Rain chances increase again Sunday into next week. Until the front arrives, Southeast Texas residents should prepare for another hot Wednesday with isolated storms and potentially poor air quality around Houston.
