Houston, Texas – Fall begins Tuesday, but Houston will feel more like summer with highs in the mid 90s, isolated storms and an Air Quality Alert.
According to the National Weather Service Houston Galveston, hot weather will continue across Southeast Texas Tuesday, with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible. An Air Quality Alert is also in effect for the Houston Galveston area.
Temperatures around Houston are expected to reach about 95 degrees Tuesday, while several inland locations could climb into the upper 90s. The Weather Service graphic shows readings near 98 degrees in parts of Southeast Texas.
Along the coast, Galveston is expected to be cooler, with a high around 92 degrees. Overnight temperatures across much of the region remain in the 70s.
The combination of heat and air quality concerns could affect people spending extended periods outdoors. The Weather Service's air quality guidance advises residents to consider limiting outdoor activities or moving them to earlier or later in the day. Carpooling or reducing unnecessary driving can also help limit emissions.
Rain chances remain isolated Tuesday, generally around 20% to 30% in areas shown by the Weather Service. Any thunderstorm could produce localized changes in travel conditions, but widespread rain is not indicated.
A weak frontal boundary will bring a change later in the week. The Weather Service expects drier conditions to arrive Thursday, although the information provided does not indicate a major temperature drop with the boundary.
