Fort Worth, TX – A dramatic weather shift is approaching North and Central Texas this week, bringing scattered thunderstorms Thursday, October 15, followed by strong winds Friday and a noticeable temperature drop heading into the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, unusually warm and humid conditions will continue through Wednesday before a cold front moves across the region late Thursday. The system will replace temperatures in the 90s with cooler, fall like conditions across Dallas Fort Worth, Waco, Sherman and surrounding communities.
Thunderstorms Arrive Before Strong Friday Winds
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected Thursday, particularly near and west of Interstate 35, including portions of western North Texas.
Thursday afternoon highs could reach 88 degrees in Dallas Fort Worth and Waco, with temperatures falling into the 60s overnight as the cold front moves through.
Friday, October 16, will bring sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts approaching 40 mph throughout much of the day.
Residents are encouraged to secure patio furniture, trash cans, trampolines and other loose outdoor items before winds strengthen.
Temperatures Drop Into the 60s and 70s
By Saturday, October 17, Dallas Fort Worth is forecast to reach just 71 degrees, compared with highs around 93 degrees Tuesday.
Sherman and Denison could see highs near 67 degrees Saturday, while Waco, Temple and Killeen reach approximately 72 degrees.
Overnight temperatures will also become noticeably cooler, with lows potentially dipping into the upper 40s and lower 50s across parts of the region.
Sunday will bring a gradual warmup, with Dallas Fort Worth reaching 77 degrees before temperatures climb toward 81 degrees Monday, October 19.
Drivers should remain alert for gusty crosswinds Friday, particularly on exposed highways and bridges.
The National Weather Service recommends monitoring updated forecasts as thunderstorm timing and wind conditions become clearer.
