Fort Worth, TX – North and Central Texas are heading into another stretch of unusually hot October weather, with afternoon temperatures expected to reach the middle 90s before a cold front brings rain chances and a noticeable cooldown later next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, high pressure will maintain mostly sunny skies and above normal temperatures through Wednesday, Oct. 14, before a cold front approaches from the northwest.
Forecasters expect widespread highs in the 90s, with overnight lows remaining unusually warm in the mid 60s to mid 70s.
Temperatures Could Reach 94 Degrees Tuesday Dallas Fort Worth is forecast to reach 91 degrees Sunday, 90 Monday and 94 Tuesday.
Similar conditions are expected across Waco, Temple and Killeen, where highs could climb to 94 degrees Tuesday after reaching 91 Sunday and Monday.
Farther north, Sherman and Denison are forecast to reach 92 degrees Tuesday, while Palestine could also reach 94.
The extended warm spell will keep afternoon conditions feeling more like summer than mid October.
Cold Front Brings Rain and Thunderstorm Chances After another warm day Wednesday, a cold front is expected to approach North Texas from the northwest.
The National Weather Service forecasts scattered showers and thunderstorms Thursday into Friday, with precipitation chances ranging from 40% to 60%.
Although thunderstorms are possible, the forecast does not currently establish a widespread severe weather threat.
Residents should monitor updates as the front approaches, particularly if storms affect commuting or outdoor activities.
Cooler Weekend Ahead A noticeable temperature change is expected behind the cold front.
By next weekend, afternoon highs across much of North and Central Texas could fall into the 70s, providing relief from several days of above normal temperatures.
The timing and strength of the cold front may change as the week progresses.
