Fort Worth, TX – North Texas residents can expect several more days of unusually warm October weather, with afternoon temperatures reaching around 90 degrees before a developing storm system brings increasing rain chances and a possible return to fall like conditions late next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, sunny skies and above normal temperatures will continue across North and Central Texas through Tuesday, October 13, before the region's next weather system approaches.
Dallas and Fort Worth are forecast to reach 91 degrees Saturday, Sunday and Monday , keeping temperatures well above typical mid October levels.
Similar conditions are expected farther south, including Waco, Temple and Killeen, where highs will range from 90 to 91 degrees through Monday.
Sherman and Denison could reach 89 to 90 degrees, while Palestine is forecast to climb as high as 92 degrees Sunday.
Overnight temperatures will generally remain in the middle to upper 60s, with some locations staying near 70 degrees.
Southerly winds will also increase Sunday and Monday, with speeds around 10 to 20 mph.
A significant pattern change could begin Wednesday, October 14 , when the next storm system approaches North Texas.
Rain chances are expected to increase late Wednesday, reaching approximately 20% before climbing to 50% Thursday.
Showers and thunderstorms will both be possible, with rain chances remaining near 40% Friday.
The Weather Service expects the greatest opportunity for rainfall Thursday into Friday as the approaching system moves across the region.
A cold front associated with the system could then bring noticeably cooler, fall like temperatures by next weekend.
However, forecasters caution that the timing and intensity of the system remain subject to change.
Residents planning outdoor activities can expect generally dry conditions through Tuesday but should monitor forecasts for potential rain and thunderstorms later in the workweek.
