Dallas, Texas – North and Central Texas residents should prepare for triple digit heat Saturday as dry weather takes control, pushing Dallas Fort Worth to 101 degrees and leaving little relief through Tuesday. Anyone working, traveling or attending outdoor events should plan for extra water and frequent breaks before temperatures peak.
According to the National Weather Service Fort Worth, hot and dry conditions return Saturday and persist into the beginning of next week. Temperatures will remain above average for late summer, with highs ranging from the upper 90s to near 100 degrees across much of the region.
Dallas Fort Worth reaches 101 degrees Saturday, followed by 100 Sunday, 99 Monday and 100 Tuesday. Overnight lows near 79 degrees will provide limited cooling. Sherman and Denison reach 100 Saturday, while Waco, Temple and Killeen also hit 100.
Drivers on I 35, I 30 and I 20 should carry water and avoid leaving children, pets or temperature sensitive items inside parked vehicles. Outdoor workers and athletes should schedule breaks and reduce strenuous activity during peak afternoon heating.
Palestine stays slightly cooler, reaching 98 Saturday and 96 Sunday through Tuesday. With dry weather continuing into early next week, additional heat related alerts could follow if temperatures climb.
