Dallas, Texas – Temperatures will hit 100 degrees across several North Texas communities Tuesday, while dry conditions keep the fire threat elevated and leave residents with little opportunity for relief from rain this week.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, afternoon highs will remain in the upper 90s to lower 100s during the coming days, well above normal for mid September. Daily heat index values will reach the 90s and triple digits, with little to no rain expected through the week.
Dallas Fort Worth, Waco, Killeen, Temple, Sherman and Denison are all expected to reach 100 degrees Tuesday. DFW normally sees highs around 88 to 89 degrees during this period, underscoring the intensity of the September heat.
The prolonged dry pattern will also maintain an elevated fire threat. Residents should check local burn restrictions and avoid activities that could ignite dry vegetation. Anyone working outdoors should stay hydrated, use sun protection and reduce prolonged exposure during peak afternoon heat.
DFW temperatures ease only slightly after Tuesday, reaching 99 Wednesday and 98 Thursday through Saturday. Overnight lows remain near 80 early in the period before falling to 77 by Saturday.
With little rain expected, abnormal heat and elevated fire conditions will remain the primary concerns through Saturday.
