Dallas, TX – North and Central Texas residents are facing another stretch of unusually hot October weather, with temperatures climbing into the 90s before thunderstorms and a significant cooldown arrive later this week.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, above normal temperatures will continue through Wednesday, October 14, with increasing humidity making conditions feel more like summer than fall.
The Dallas Fort Worth area is forecast to reach 92 degrees Sunday, 91 Monday and 93 Tuesday. Overnight temperatures will also remain unusually warm, with lows climbing into the 70s.
Similar conditions are expected across the region. Waco, Temple and Killeen could reach 93 degrees Tuesday, while Sherman and Denison are forecast to hit 91. Palestine could also see temperatures around 93 degrees.
However, a noticeable weather change is expected before the weekend.
Forecasters say scattered showers and thunderstorms could develop Thursday, October 15, and continue into Friday as an approaching cold front moves toward North and Central Texas.
Rainfall could create wet roads and slower travel during the late week commute, although specific storm timing and rainfall amounts remain uncertain.
The biggest change may arrive by next weekend, October 17 18, when afternoon highs are expected to fall into the 70s across much of the region.
That would represent a temperature drop of roughly 20 degrees compared with the early week heat, bringing more seasonable conditions to communities across the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex and surrounding counties.
Residents should prepare for several more hot afternoons before the transition to cooler weather. Those planning outdoor activities or travel Thursday and Friday should monitor updated forecasts as rain chances become clearer.
