DALLAS, TX — North Texas is approaching November with a noticeable surge in afternoon temperatures, as Dallas prepares for several days of sunshine and highs climbing into the upper 80s. The warm stretch arrives immediately before NOAA's Oct. 26–Nov. 1 extended outlook, raising questions about how long the late October warmth could continue.
According to NOAA's Climate Prediction Center, the eight to 14 day outlook issued Oct. 18 covers the final six days of October and the opening day of November. The outlook evaluates whether average temperatures and total precipitation are favored to finish above, near or below normal. The Texas specific temperature and precipitation categories from those maps have not yet been independently confirmed for this report.
Dallas Temperatures Could Reach 87 Degrees The National Weather Service forecast for Dallas shows temperatures increasing throughout the week, with the warmest conditions expected Thursday through Saturday.
Monday, Oct. 19, begins with mostly sunny skies and a high near 77 degrees. Southeast winds around 5 mph are expected during the afternoon.
Tuesday brings another increase, with temperatures reaching approximately 81 degrees under sunny skies. Wednesday's high climbs to around 84 degrees, continuing the warming trend across the Dallas area.
By Thursday, Oct. 22, afternoon temperatures are forecast to reach 87 degrees, accompanied by sunshine and light southeast winds.
The same high of 87 degrees is expected Friday and Saturday, before temperatures ease slightly to approximately 86 degrees Sunday.
Warm Days and Mild Nights Across Dallas Overnight temperatures are also expected to rise during the week.
Monday night's low is forecast near 55 degrees, followed by 57 Tuesday night and 61 Wednesday night. By Thursday night, temperatures are expected to remain around 63 degrees.
Weekend overnight lows could reach the middle 60s, reducing the contrast between daytime warmth and nighttime cooling.
At Dallas Love Field, temperatures were 58 degrees early Monday, with mostly cloudy skies, 60% humidity and southeast winds around 8 mph.
The warming trend may be especially noticeable for residents spending time outdoors during the afternoon, when temperatures are forecast to approach 90 degrees without reaching that threshold.
What Happens as November Approaches? The extended outlook becomes important because the immediate Dallas forecast ends Sunday, Oct. 25, one day before NOAA's next forecast window begins.
While several days in the upper 80s are expected before that period, the local forecast alone cannot establish whether those conditions will persist into November.
North Texas also requires separate consideration from Houston, the Gulf Coast and western Texas, where seasonal temperature patterns can differ considerably.
The CPC's temperature map will help establish whether Dallas is favored to experience above normal warmth during Oct. 26–Nov. 1. Its precipitation map will separately indicate whether the period favors wetter, drier or near normal conditions.
Neither outlook provides exact daily highs, rainfall amounts or guarantees that every afternoon will be warm.
For Dallas residents, the immediate message is clear: A substantial warmup is forecast this week, with several afternoons reaching 87 degrees before November approaches.
Updated forecasts will determine whether the warm pattern continues beyond the weekend or gives way to more typical autumn conditions.
