Corpus Christi, TX – South Texas residents face several days of unsettled weather beginning Tuesday, Oct. 27, as showers and thunderstorms move across the Coastal Bend and surrounding communities. Meanwhile, beachgoers along the Gulf Coast are being warned about a moderate risk of dangerous rip currents, creating additional concerns for anyone entering the water.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, scattered to numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected Tuesday, with additional rainfall chances continuing through Thursday, Oct. 29.
Tuesday's storms could affect communities across Nueces County and the surrounding Coastal Bend , including Corpus Christi, Port Aransas, Rockport and nearby inland locations.
Forecasters expect mostly cloudy skies with afternoon highs generally reaching the lower to middle 80s. Easterly winds will range from 10 to 15 mph.
Rain chances remain elevated Wednesday, Oct. 28, ranging from 25% to 50% across eastern portions of South Texas.
Thursday, Oct. 29, could bring precipitation probabilities as high as 65% in western portions of the forecast area, while afternoon temperatures range from 81 to 85 degrees.
Rain chances decrease Friday, Oct. 30, to approximately 20% to 35% across northern locations.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has identified a moderate rip current risk along South Texas beaches Tuesday.
Waves are expected to reach 2 to 4 feet, with water temperatures in the upper 70s.
Rip currents can pull swimmers away from shore, especially near piers and jetties. Anyone caught in a rip current should avoid fighting the current and swim parallel to shore until free.
Improving weather is expected for Halloween weekend.
Saturday, Oct. 31, should bring partly cloudy skies with highs between 83 and 90 degrees. Sunday, Nov. 1, could be even warmer, with temperatures reaching 84 to 92 degrees.
Residents and beach visitors should monitor updated forecasts and coastal safety information before outdoor activities.
