Austin, TX – South Central Texas will turn drier Monday before warmer afternoons build through midweek, followed by renewed rain chances Thursday and Friday.
The National Weather Service Austin San Antonio said Sunday evening that north winds will gradually bring drier air into the region. Skies should begin clearing after low chances for light rain and sprinkles Sunday night.
Austin is forecast to reach 85 degrees Monday, Oct. 5, followed by 86 Tuesday and 87 Wednesday. Morning lows become cooler, dropping from around 70 Monday to 66 Tuesday and 63 Wednesday.
San Antonio follows a similar trend, with highs of 85 Monday, 85 Tuesday and 86 Wednesday. Tuesday and Wednesday morning lows are forecast around 67 and 66 degrees, respectively.
The next opportunity for rain arrives Thursday as moisture begins returning to the region. Austin has a 15% rain chance Thursday and 20% Friday, while San Antonio has a 30% chance both days.
Some communities have slightly higher probabilities. Eagle Pass has a 30% chance Thursday and 35% Friday, while several locations including New Braunfels and Cuero reach 30%.
Rain is not expected to be widespread based on the current outlook, and the NWS describes the late week probabilities as low. No significant storm hazards are indicated in the provided forecast.
Temperatures remain warm through the period, with Austin reaching 86 Thursday and 84 Friday. For South Central Texas, the main change to watch is whether Thursday and Friday rain chances increase as the late week period approaches.
