Amarillo, Texas – Residents across the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles face daily thunderstorm chances this week, with the most widespread activity expected Tuesday and Friday as temperatures retreat from Monday’s 95 to 100 degree heat.
According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, thunderstorm chances increase from 25% to 30% Monday to 50% to 80% Tuesday across the Panhandles. Storm coverage falls to 30% to 50% Wednesday and 25% to 35% Thursday before climbing to 40% to 50% Friday.
Tuesday and Friday could bring storms across much more of the region, while Monday through Thursday activity will otherwise favor western and northwestern sections. Residents should keep weather alerts enabled and move indoors if thunder is heard.

By Friday, highs across the Panhandles fall to 84 to 93 degrees, making mid 80s to lower 90s increasingly common. Additional thunderstorm alerts could follow as the higher storm chances arrive Tuesday and again Friday.
