Nashville, TN – A widespread soaking rain is heading toward Middle Tennessee, with 1 to 2 inches of rainfall expected by Thursday morning as a cold front moves across the region. Wednesday could bring hours of steady rain, potentially affecting morning and evening commutes.
According to the National Weather Service NWS in Nashville, another round of rainfall will begin late Tuesday night, November 3, before becoming widespread Wednesday, November 4. The heaviest precipitation is expected between midnight and 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Widespread Rain Expected Throughout Wednesday Forecasters anticipate a substantial soaking across Middle Tennessee, including Nashville, Davidson County and surrounding communities.
The NWS expects most locations to receive between 1 and 2 inches of rainfall by Thursday morning, November 5.
Forecast maps indicate a particularly high probability of rainfall exceeding 1 inch across portions of the region, with some communities showing probabilities above 80%.
The likelihood of receiving more than 2 inches is lower and varies considerably by location.
Wednesday's prolonged rainfall could create wet roadways, reduced visibility and slower travel during periods of heavier precipitation.
Drivers should allow additional travel time, particularly during the morning commute and afternoon rush hour.
Cold Front Brings Rain Without Major Severe Weather Threat Despite the widespread rainfall, the NWS currently does not anticipate severe weather accompanying this system.
Forecasters describe the approaching rain as a beneficial soaking, helping replenish moisture across the region.
Rainfall is expected to continue into Wednesday evening before the system moves through by Thursday morning.
Residents should monitor updated forecasts as the cold front approaches, particularly if rainfall amounts or timing change.
The forecast does not currently indicate a widespread severe thunderstorm threat, although locally heavier showers remain possible.
